Andrea Cioffi

Andrea Cioffi has been a successful speech language pathologist for over 17 years. She graduated from CUNY Lehman College in 2003 where she received a Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences, and she obtained a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in 2005 from New York Medical College.
Andrea began her career working with children and families ranging in ages from birth to 5 years of age as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team in a therapeutic preschool and private practice. She worked with children with various developmental diagnoses such as autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, traumatic brain injury, behavior disorders, Fetal alcohol syndrome, intellectual disability and spina bifida. She gained knowledge and skillsets in the diagnostic process and treatment of oral motor and feeding disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, apraxia of speech, auditory processing disorders and various articulation/phonological disorders.
In 2014, Andrea was eager to broaden her proficiencies and began working with the adult and geriatric population. She spent 4 years working as a treating therapist focusing on life skill goals where she became committed to enhancing communication skills and promoting independence outside of the therapeutic environment. Working with adults to learn new skills to obtain a job, make choices, make a phone call and order their own food in a restaurant gave her a newfound appreciation for the field of speech language pathology. She transitioned to an administrative role, where she spent the last 5 years leading a team of physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists. Experience in this administrative role has aided Andrea in understanding what it means to be a part of a team sharing goals and working to obtain them.
In addition, Andrea has mentored clinical fellows to obtain licensure, has experience with PROMPT therapy, and has knowledge in sensory processing disorders in children and adults.
“The past 17 years of my professional life, I have strived to help people across the lifespan become engaged and effective communicators.
